If a customer makes a payment by mistake, pays too much, or wishes to return an item, can a merchant refund the customer's money?
Camtech allows both refunds and reversals through our gateway.
Reversals can be done for the full amount of a payment, any time before close of banking on the transaction's settlement date. Reversed transactions will not appear on your customer's credit card statement.

Refunds can be performed at any time, and can be a full or partial refund of the customer's payment. Multiple refunds may be performed on a transaction until the balance of the transaction is zero.

Refunds and reversals can be perforned through most of Camtech's software, and for convenience, may be done online from our website's Secure Merchant Login facility.

Can Camtech preauthorise funds on a customer's credit card for later payment?
Preauthorisation allows Camtech to check an amount on a customer's credit card and reserve the funds if available. When required, another transaction is performed to capture the funds. The customer's bank will normally free up preauthorised funds which have not been completed within 7 days, making these funds available to the customer, and no longer reserved by the merchant.
Preauthorisation is available through Camtech, but only through certain banks. Contact Camtech to find out if your bank has this functionality.

What hardware/software do I need to offer online transactions through Camtech?
Any Web/commerce server that conforms to the HTTP/1.0 standard (virtually every Web server currently operating) can utilize the Camtech credit card gateway. All that is required is for the merchant Web site to incorporate a form into their final "checkout" page.

Is the customer always redirected away from the merchant web site?
No. The Camtech payment form can be opened inside a frame within the merchant's web site. We also provide a hosted payment solution that can be used by merchant's that do not want to support their own payment page.

Does a company need to be registered as a Merchant with Camtech to use its services?
Yes. Each business using the Camtech service must be registered as a Camtech Merchant.

What confirmation of payments will I receive from Camtech?
Camtech will send you an ASCII file to a nominated e-mail address every morning at 3:00 (EST). This report contains details of all transactions passed through the Camtech Payment Gateway. If a merchant uses more than one Camtech product (i.e. phone payments via IVR and internet payments via their website), transactions through all products are compiled into one itemised report each day.

What is the format of the Daily ASCII Report File?
The reports are fully customisable, and can contain any transaction details that Camtech stores itself. We can insert header and trailer lines, as well as provide the total number, and total value of all transactions for the last 24 hours.

Can Camtech handle transactions originated outside Australia?
Yes. Just as anyone travelling overseas is able to pay for goods and services with their credit card, any cardholder with an appropriate card may make a payment using Camtech. The transaction is conducted in Australian Dollars and the foreign currency conversion is then handled by the customer's home bank.

Does Camtech perform instant online credit card validation?
Yes, the customer can expect to receive a response from their bank through the Camtech system in real time.

Can Camtech perform large batch validation?
Yes. SecureBatch allows a merchant to upload a list of transactions during the day, which will be processed at midnight that night.
The Camtech system, however, eliminates the need for large batch validation, as the customer is able to pay for goods and services from the merchant in real time over the Internet.

What are the ongoing fees?
Just like every person is unique, every account we sell is unique to you and your business, therefore we can not state a price until we know more about the account you need. Camtech offers fixed price fees for all our services. Call 1800 882 415 and ask to speak to a Sales Representative for charges pertinent to your situation.

What validity checks does Camtech's software perform for me?
Camtech's Client software checks basic field validity before sending a transaction to our Payment Server. We check that all mandatory data has been entered, as well as validity of fields such as the credit card number, expiry date, and amount.. Merchants are not charged for transactions which do not pass these basic tests.

Is it safe for my customers to send personal information, including credit card numbers, over the internet?
Our hosted payment page solution is an HTML form, which runs on a secure web server. You just post the required variables to our payment page, the customer fills in their credit card number in the secure form, and we redirect the response back to your site.

What level of encryption does Camtech use?
Camtech uses a 128-bit digital server certificate provided by VeriSignâ„¢. This level of encryption is currently considered realistically unbreakable.

Can I use my work PC to manually process payments on my customers' behalf?
If you have the customers' permission to take payments from their credit cards, Camtech can provide a virtual terminal that can be accessed through a web browser. As long as you have internet connectivity, payment details are manually entered, and a response received in real time.
